Schools Ban iPods to Prevent Cheating

I disagree with what these schools are doing because as said in the article, they are just going to think of more ways to cheat. Also, if the student is smart enough and has enough time to transfer the notes to their iPod, they can put into the time to understand the material. If the students don't want to learn what is on the test or quiz, then it's their fault when they get older.
Also, from the article, "'You can just thread the earbud up your sleeve and then hold it to your ear like you're resting your head on your hand," Nelson said. "I think you should still be able to use iPods. People who are going to cheat are still going to cheat, with or without them,'" they are going to do whatever it takes to cheat, so why bother try stopping something people like when it won't make a difference anyway.

I know people who have used that sleeve trick, apparently it works well. But if you actually put all that time devise something like that, then that explains why you need to cheat. Use that time to study, or pay attention! We shouldn't have to all have ipod privledges taken away, it's unfair.

I do think it was right to ban cell phones because they do help people cheat but i dont think it is fair to ban ipods or music players because they dont help kids cheat and sometimes they do help kids concentrate.

Wow, I didn't know that cell phones were banned because there were texts that could send answers! That's cool, I never thought about that. Hehe.(:

Oh, and how does an ipod help you cheat? Questions that should be answered...:D

Students will always find a way to cheat and i don't think that an ipod is their last method.

I agree that kids will do what it takes to cheat, but I think banning iPods is wrong. Some students actually use their iPods properly and shouldn't be punished for other kids' behaviors.

Who would need to cheat at duke dont you have to have good grades to get there.

I liked this article. It is interesting and so true. I think they are both right and wrong. They should ban the iPods because cheating is illegal and students should be punished for their wrong doing. However, not all students are like that. There are students that honestly study hard to get good grades and they use their iPods properly. So those students shouldnt be punished for something that they didn't do. I agree with Brittany. Students should make time to study so they wouldn't have to cheat and get punished.

I think what these schools are being very stupid for banding these media players. It's stupid because how can kids entertain themselves during off time in the morning. All kid's just wanna sit back and relax sometimes.

I do not agree with the banning of the ipods. I know people cheat in school but not everybody does. If the students that cheat with the ipods get caught only they get punished and not the whole school.

I thought it was a bad idea banning Ipods from being used because of somebody cheating on a test. This somewhat pretains to the saying" if one bead falls off of a necklace all of the others do."

I disagree with this article, I honestly have never thought of using my iPod to cheat on anything, they're just giving new ideas. Also I don't really understand how an iPod can be used for cheating, maybe a phone that's different.

I thought this article was confusing because I don't get how students use ipods to cheat. Also if you spend all that time downloading information it would just be easier to study? I enjoyed hearing about all the ways students cheat.

I find this not so surprising. If an electronic has the potential of being able to cheat it will get banned from schools.
