This article (click the post title) discusses teens' obsession with their image and weight. In conjunction with the article I found this cool flash video about "real beauty." (If you are unable to view it here, you can go to YouTube and search "dove" and "evolution.") I bet you watch it more than once!
I'd like to know what you think about the claims in this article and the movie clip online. Also, do you think these unrealistic expectations are different for boys and girls? If so, why? At what point in a person's life does "beauty"discrimination start?

I found both the article and video interesting. It’s different for girls because they are more concerned about their weight and their appearance. Boys tend to not care as much as the girls. I think "beauty" discrimination starts around when they become teens. They are just starting puberty and they start middle school and they try to be as perfect as they can be and if they think they aren't, its starts the whole problem.
I think this article and the movie clip is very true because most people always care about how they look, but its not really that big of a deal.
Yes, I thibk that the expectations are differnt for boys because most boys are age don't care how they look.
I thibk that "beauty" discrimination starts at a young age for some people. Mostly in middle school.
1. Yes because the girls care more about there weight than boys.
2. Middle School
1.)Yes because from what the artice tells me is that the girls weigh themselfs and end up gaining more weight or losing it and boys don't lose as much.
2.) It starts in the teen years.
The article and the video are both very interesting. The girls care alot of their weight and the guys don't care that much. And girls care for what they look like, and boys care less.
I think that both articles tell alot. I think that girls care more than boys about the way they look since thay want to look the best that they can when they become teens.
1/ Both the article and the video were very interesting, it seams like the girls care alot more about there weight than the boys do.
2/ It starts when you are like going into middle school, because you are getting in to your teenage years.
I thought that the video was more interesting than the artical because it shows you what they do to make people look fake on magazines and Billbourds.I think it is different for boys because boys dont care about there eperirence as much as girls. If we did we would be wearing makeup. Beauty discrimination starts around the teen years becuase thats when they start to go though changes and have raging hormones.
The claims in the article show that real beauty is not what we usally see.
1) Yes, I think that girls worry more about how they look, wile boys don't. I think this because in my opinon girls worry more about what people think of them.
2) Beauty Discrimination starts when the person is a teenager.
1) Yes i do because in most cases girls tend to care about what they look like alot more then girls do and i think it is amazing on how they made that unattractive girl into an amazing looking model with technology and makeup.
2) This video i think starts in the later teen years.
Theideo was a little confusing but after i read teh article it made sense to me. I don't understand why they wanna look so good when they can just be themselves. and tey dont show there real beauty.
1).I think that the girls care more about their waight then the boys because the girls have to look pretty, and always be in a good shape. The guys still have to keep in shape but they dont have to worrie as much as the girls do.
2). This starts when the reach their teen/middle school years
I found the video very interesting and good, yes i think that the exoectations are true because girls care more about how they look than boys.
1.)Yes because from what the artice tells me is that the girls weigh themselfs and end up gaining more weight or losing it and boys don't lose as much.
2.)It starts when you are going into middle school, because you are getting into teenage years.
1.)Yes because the artice says that the girls are gaining more weight and losing it,and boys don't lose as much.
2.)For some girls it starts in their teens
I found both the article and video very true. When you are a girl, what you look like is a big issue. Beauty discrimination deffinitley starts when you're a teenager because people are quick to judge and you feel like if you arent perfect, there is something wrong with you.
1.I think the article and the movie clip are true because most teens care about how they look especially girls.
2.Middle School/Teens
1)Not really because us girls seem to be more concerned with our weight these days. Boys are different and seem to not care that much.
2)This "beauty" discrimination starts in the teens.
